Adoptable Dogs

Throw a Dog a Bone is an all-breed dog rescue located in Austin, TX. We focus on saving dogs primarily in the rural shelters in South Texas. Many of these shelters have no exposure and very few resources. Our mission is to rescue as many of these dogs as possible and find them loving forever homes. We are a foster based rescue and can help as many dogs as we have fosters for. 

By choosing to adopt from us, you are providing a forever loving home to the dog you choose. You are also making it possible for us to rescue another dog in his or her place.

The dogs and puppies listed below are currently available for adoption. We transport dogs to cities all across the Northwest, Northeast, and Midwest using professional dog transport via bus or cargo vans fitted out for dog transport with animal attendants to care for your dog during the roadtrip. These transports happen every two weeks.
